WOOD PANEL
I found that mixing neon with dark, non-neon colors creates a crazy deep contrast when using a black/blue light. The neon colors just glow and the rest just turn into a shadow. It truly is mesmerizing. With this piece, I poured the colors sporadically randomly all over the panel, following up with the blow dryer in directions. Instead of a bunch of cells, we got gaseous, fluidity. Everything looks like its melting. It’s so bright, yet so dark. The smooth, fluid paths remind me of lava between igneous rock. In Hawaii, the less viscus lava is known as Pahoehoe(pa-hoy-hoy), meaning "smooth” or “runny”. I find it fitting…

Color, color, color! This piece, like Flat Earth, is full spectrum of color. And also like Flat Earth, I used a funnel in the center and stacked all the colors to its capacity and slowly released it into a base color of white. Each color included a drop or two of silicone oil which causes the colors to cleanly separate from other colors, making the rings and cells. A quick push from the blow dryer and the colors trapped underneath slip their way to the top as the mix settles flat. Cell creation is by far my favorite result in paint pouring. Kelidos was dubbed to this one due to its trippy bursty-looking direction — a rainbow of colors in an outward pattern.

Growing up, my grandfather enjoyed going to riverbeds wherever they traveled, in search of rare gems. He did manage to find some fossils, beautiful geodes and other stones along the way. It’s amazing such beauty our world creates. This is my only triangular piece I’ve ever done. I picked it because it’s the perfect shape. I felt it encapsulates the gemstone-like center. And the brilliance of the metallics offer that glimmery gem expression. I funneled the metallics into multiple layers over the obsidian black and golden black base colors. They spread out so beautifully that I didn’t want to do anymore to it. It was perfect…May it keep you strong and stable…

This is one of my earlier pieces. I believe the first circle and wood panel piece I ever did. I also A LOT of different colors. Placing a funnel in the center, the paint would be held within until I slowly released bits at a time. Once the funnel was emptied, I wait a while to let the paint layers fall to the earth. I then take the blow dryer and press in a circular outward direction. this roles the paint over itself like waves of water towards the shore. Then, again, let gravity do its thing as the colors begin to break through the top from within, creating a multitude of colorful rips and cells. And for an experimental addition to my usual style, I poured a 24k gold border. It is Flat Earth from a distance…
